Purpose of Position

The APAC region currently has differing requirements for HR service based upon the capability within the region and disparate ways of working.

Many of these differing requirements relate to genuine operational and cultural complexity (i.e. language), however there is also an opportunity to concentrate efforts on embedding BSI frameworks and process delivery as part of further integration.

This role will be focused on two keys areas; HRBP support to ASEAN (encompassing Malaysia HRBP) and the leadership of a project to further embed HR services and processes across the APAC region, starting with a deep dive into the ASEAN area.

Main Objective of Role

Delivery of HRBP support across ASEAN and support the Senior HRBP APAC to setup the foundation of working practices up to enable a clear HR service model.

Deliverables will include : -

HRBP Support to ASEAN Business Leadership

Provide strategic and operational insight, advice, knowledge and experience across both the people annual agenda for a defined client base and to contract with stakeholders to agree demand for HR support in line with HR service delivery.

To deliver a proactive and professional HR service to BSIs ASEAN and Malaysia businesses reporting to the SHRBP APAC.

To work as a business partner to drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of all organisational change, people process and business improvement initiatives to improve organisational effectiveness and develop leadership.

Provide both transformational advice and transactional support across all key areas of HR including recruitment, on-boarding, strategic resource planning, retention, employee relations, reward, organisational design, people data and people development.

Along with the SHRBP, this role will provide thought leadership, strategic input and the ability to act as both influencer and enabler ensuring that the role adds demonstrable value to the strategic and operational aims of the business.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • To deliver various activities and implement initiatives across the HR calendar including and not limited to the annual pay review, performance appraisal process
  • Coach, support & guide line managers on best practice across the employee lifecycle, in accordance with BSI people processes and procedures
  • Provide robust employment law advice based on local knowledge, guidance on policies and procedures while coaching line managers to seek out appropriate solutions in respect of ER Matters
  • Provide insight on Management information and on key HR metrics in line with both the global stream needs and the wider global HR team.
  • Identify appropriate HR solutions to any areas of concern

  • Responsible for embedding any Group HR initiatives such as people development and performance management. Based on the insight provided by these processes support the business to development of key capabilities required to deliver business goals
  • Identify and escalate potential people risks to the appropriate Business leader, providing potential solutions
  • Collaborate with the APAC HRBP / HR Operations / CoE colleagues across other areas of the business to share best practice in ASEAN and deliver aligned HR support to the business.
  • The aim of which is to provide a cohesive stakeholder experience

  • Implement and advise on the BSI people strategy in the Business Unit to achieve optimal effect and impact on business performance and under the direction of the SHRBP / HRD
  • Contract with business stakeholders to understand the people requirements, scope options and collaborate with CoE and HR Operations to deliver solutions
  • Work alongside the Business planning and Finance, resourcing teams to understand the business performance and required adjustments to the plan for Headcount through annual cycle activity and through interpreting ongoing business performance information
  • Analyse and provide insights into people capability issues which impact business performance
  • Work consistently within the framework of the BSI People Strategy and the HR Annual Plan
  • Managing / contracting service from the HR operations team providing them with horizon activity that may impact capacity and volumes
  • Cascade and communicate key change activity to ensure CoE and HR Ops support
  • Member of a Operational Business leadership teams, supporting country managers Customise & Implement solutions
  • Providing Tier 3 advice and support to manage complex People issues within area
  • Input and co-create the budget
  • Validating people data accuracy and adherence to ways of working across area of responsibility
  • Participating on OD strategic people planning activity to create implementation plans, inform business of key OD principles and measures to ensure OD is effective and governed
  • Support for the business area, embed talent management and succession planning interventions
  • Work closely with the wider HR community and be an active member of the HR team by helping to continually improve the way in which we provide a value add’ service to the business
  • Provide sound ER advice and guidance to all levels of management on matters affecting employment and ensure that employment legislation is not contravened and good HR practice is implemented
  • Support the production of Management information and KPI on key HR metrics relating to business area utilising existing dashboards before creating new versions where possible
  • Proactively keep abreast of legislation changes relevant to their region / jurisdictional area
  • Project Lead for HR Process Integration

  • Identify the key differences in requirement for APAC and produce a blueprint model of how HR Operational support is delivered across the region, considering small and large country requirements
  • Embed the Job Family Framework and complete activity of mapping and gaining business sign off to role profiles in use, to ensure the reward framework is applied consistently across the region
  • Socialise and integrate the Reward framework and work alongside the SHRBP APAC to establish clear benefits of the BSI reward framework with Senior leadership across APAC & ASEAN
  • Work with each country in ASEAN to embed and align processes and Workday usage across the estate
  • Plan the Reward cycle and consistent use of reward data and act as the conduit to drive incentives and cycle strategy in conjunction with Group Reward
  • Work with HR Ops Director to map HR process requirements (capturing common and differing requirements) and start to integrate common processes
  • Work with SHRBP and HR Ops Director to initiate and successfully establish HR Ops in ASEAN
  • Embed HR operations OD in ASEAN in line with the wider HR Transformation to ensure that new colleagues are onboarded in line with the HR model
  • Assess the level of integration and utilisation of roles from legacy businesses i.e. consultants and trainers and propose next stage of implementation, incl.
  • review of ER usage in APAC

  • Ensure that Data used for payroll is mirrored in workday that data accuracy is understood and adhered to across APAC and identify any gaps in workday set up in order to have meaningful accurate data is workday i.e. one time payment

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience of working as an as an HR Business Partner / within a HR department in a generalist role
  • Experience of working across different cultural environments and within a global organisation
  • Previous experience of working with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable coaching experience
  • Skills and Abilities

  • CIPD qualified / Equivalent
