The Trade Loan analyst is accountable for performing Trade Loan Management activities by calculating and evaluating Trade Loans, preparing and submitting proposals for authorization, evaluating trade finance performance, and supporting the commercial evaluation.

The Trade Loan analyst is required to have a deep understanding of Lubricants Customer and Credit Policy (investment section), Trade Loan policies, relevant systems and tools.

The job holder is also accountable to control and validate the data / inputs received from stakeholders to ensure that the requested change is aligned and compliant with BP Financial guidelines & Lubricants Customer Charter.

Operations

  • Perform regular and event driven Trade Loan evaluations in compliance with Trade Loan Policy, Credit Policy and BP Delegation of Authority framework.
  • Perform Customer Due Diligence to understand the financial and commercial prospects of the customer.
  • Work closely with the customer to ensure that credit team receives necessary financial documents from sales or customer for a timely and proper credit risk evaluation of the customer.
  • Prepare, validate & submit trade loan proposals for approval and ensure that they are compliant with BP financial guidelines (eg IRR, Credit Risk, NHF).
  • Prepare Financial Memorandum (FM), submit it for approval and ensure is archived in appropriate manner.
  • Review and ensure that Trade Loans data in local ERP and other relevant systems is correctly set up
  • Liaise with cash & banking teams to ensure the payments are issued to the customers as per agreement signed.
  • Prepare trade investment agreement, Purchase order, invoice, legal letters and other relevant documents.
  • Trade Loan Management and Monitoring

  • Monitor Trade Loan fulfilment, periodic credit and rebate calculations where applicable. Prepare relevant MI’s and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Identify key, strategic or high risks related to trade investments and take actions together with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and articulate the underlying delivery of actuals vs. the target (Volume and Gross Margin) on a monthly basis and take necessary actions as per the Contract.
  • Perform reconciliation between the sub-accounts and the main GL accounts to ensure that the account balances are valid and correct.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting entries related to end to end Trade loan activity’s
  • Perform regular review of underperforming contract and take accountability to initiate engagement with sales & finance, identify the root cause and solutioning.
  • Understand the business and drive execution

  • Keep close contact with Sales by attending and / or organising regular meetings on Trade Loan reviews and be a business partner to balance the risk & reward for respective portfolios.
  • Reporting

  • Performs various regular reporting activities and ad hoc reporting’s in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Stakeholder management

  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Compliance

  • Ensure compliance to relevant Trade Loan, Credit and Customer Charter Policy for respective businesses.
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Credit Assessments, Collections or Financial performance in an international environment.
  • Shared service centre experience; preferably in oil and gas industry, lubricants industry or similar (eg. paint, chemical, batch processing industry) would be desirable.
  • Written and spoken proficiency in Chinese and English language (Mandatory)
  • Proficiency in MS Office & Power BI

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of stakeholders needs / behaviours.
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Good performance management skills.
  • Strong time management and organisation skills, able to prioritise and handle urgent issues and escalations.
  • Highly motivated and ambitious to deliver value to end customers and business.
  • Experience using JDE / SAP and MS Office application.
