Role Summary : Full - Time Regular An opening for Contract Counsel based in Malaysia. The position will support the Legal Division.
Essential Responsibilities :
Responsible for reviewing, drafting, modifying and negotiating a full range of customer contracts and subcontracts for assigned area, in accordance with Baker Hughes Contracting Policy
Provides risk assessments and recommendations regarding contractual risk issues to Operations personnel and Management
Provides guidance / advice to Operations personnel and Management and liaises with other corporate representatives on contractual terms, contracting policies and contract-
based management of operational and business risk.
Co-ordinates and implements contracting policies and initiatives to ensure consistent application in the review and negotiation of contracts within assigned area of responsibility.
Co-ordinates and conducts contracts training seminars for company sales, marketing and Operations personnel.
Maintaining Contracts database for assigned area of responsibility
Co-ordinates and handles special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Degree in Law or equivalent from a reputable university.
At least 10 years post-qualified experience, ideally gained from working with a contracts / legal department of a multi-
national company and / or a reputable law firm.
Experienced in negotiating and managing high value and complex project contracts even under time pressure.
Background in engineering, oil and gas, or construction industry would be an advantage.
Desired Characteristics :
Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required. Any other (Asian) language would be a plus.
High ethical skills, able to function as a trustful gatekeeper.
Organized and self-starter.
