Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

To lead and manage a team of fibre and microwave access planners in detail design of access transport network. The scope includes Annual Rollout Plan, 5-year Transmission Plan, Special projects such as NFCP tenders and Clawback programs, managing hotspots sites & MCV deployments for special event.

In addition, support annual CAPEX requirements for Access Transport.

What are you accountable for?

  • Transport network planning - Lead access IPMW and fibre transmission planning. Ensure timely and cost effective capacity planning of transmission network for capacity growth Project alignment with RF team to adhere with company goals as per long term traffic forecast and spends.
  • Transport network design - Leadaccess IPMW and fiber transmission design. Assuring the access transmission built today will be able to scale and carry the increased traffic for 5G and beyond Review fiber design (new build / FIU / refresh / relo) and fiber electronic requirement supporting PTN / GPON / IPMAN.
  • Manage and approve budget.

  • Capacity management - Accountable for end to end capacity management for better synergy towards internal & external customers Consolidation of TX access network requirement and expansion plans for better synergy towards internal & external customers.
  • Proactive support to Operational Performance and UCE related issues.

  • Financial management - Responsible to work with transport team to consolidate RP & LRP figure and slide deck. To ensure timely project execution within the approved budget;
  • both CAPEX and OPEX. To keep abreast with the latest reforecast traffic optimization and consolidation of transport’s new requirement.

  • Funnel management - Control project deployment is within the agreed deliverable timeline and spends. Explore alternative solution to ensure timely project execution as per GR forecast.
  • Working as teamwork in meeting project deliverable as per company goals. Share weekly progress and to minimize dependency with subcontractors.

  • Implementation Management - Synergize with implementation team to ensure project delivery is according to transports’ design policy.
  • Keep track and ensure job completion is within the optimize timeline. Improvise methods and procedures to cultivate a conducive working environment

  • Problem management - Tactical on the operational and docket related issues within the allowable KPI Engagement with operation team to ensure operational issues is to be managed and investigated by operation team, supported by Transport Network.
  • Support in finding solution at minimal cost and shorter timeline.

  • Strategy management - Lead critical transport project and work cross functional with other regional planners to ensure right technology / feature is deployed at the right time.
  • Proactive on the evolution / progress as per planned roadmap.

  • Industrial relationship management - Represent Maxis for TX Working Group to share common interest within Telco forum and to safeguard Maxis interest.
  • Consolidation of TX requirements for better collaboration within OLO .

  • Continuous improvement program (CIP) - Identify area of improvement that could benefit Maxis as per company’s business objectives and context.
  • Optimize and automate processes to constantly deliver high quality product and services in delivering UNMATCHED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE to our customers.

    What do you need to have for this role?

  • Bachelor’s DegreeElectrical / Electronics / Telecommunication Engineering
  • Total Work Experience : 11 to 15 years
  • Total Relevant Experience : 11 to 15 years in design & implementation of telco network
  • RF network design & transmission
  • Network design strategy for network efficiency & cost effectiveness
  • IP & fiber network deployment & integration for telco network
  • Contract & project management
  • Geographical Information System tools like MapInfo.
  • Pathloss link design tools.
  • Engineering Costing & budgeting
